    On our last full day on São Miguel, we decided to finally spend some time in the capital – Ponta Delgada. Dropped off our scooters in the morning and ventured out on foot. With no specific spot in mind, we decided to start with a cup of galão and go from there.

  2. Diving and breathing in São Miguel

    After a couple of days of additional preparation we decided to do a few more dives in the vicinity of Ponta Delgada. There are certainly more spots in the Azores for interesting diving, but in retrospect, it would take a bit more experience and a bit more dive-centric planning to fully take advantage of them. So off we went for some more quality time with Bruno and Suzi from Best Spot Azores.

  3. Islet of Vila Franca do Campo

    A 5-10 minute boat ride from the marina of Vila Franca do Campo is a small islet that’s quite a popular spot for both locals and visitors of the island. In the center of this volcanic islet is a perfectly circular bay filled with crystal clear ocean water. By some accounts, it’s one of the best places to snorkel on São Miguel, and we wanted to verify that for ourselves.

    The deep waters on the left serve as a landing spot for cliff jumpers, while the mellow pool on the right is for everyone else.

  4. Sete Cidades in the rain

    Aside from a pretty village and the multicoloured lakes, Sete Cidades also feature magnificent roads right on the ridges of the volcanic caldera. It’s as good as it sounds! A perfect riding destination.
