    The town of Alma on the bay of Fundy is known for several things: proximity to the beautiful Fundy National Park, abundance of lobster shops, dramatic tides in its harbour. But what we were about to experience first was arguably the best seafood chowder money can buy, served in the modest looking Harbour View Restaurant. You’d never expect it from the look of the place, but sometimes looks can be deceiving.

  2. Québec – The North Side of St. Lawrence River

    Victoria Day in Canada is always a tempting time to take a short road trip and enjoy the progressively more pleasant weather of late May. Of all the enticing places to visit, for me Québec is always hard to resist. Thus we packed up for what would become our last 2-up motorcycle trip (I got my own bike less than a month later). The destinations this time would be north of St. Lawrence River, going as far as the towns of Saguenay and Tadoussac. 5 days of bike riding and good food? We should do it again some time…

  3. The Curaçao Chronicles

    When the weather in Southern Ontario turns nasty, already cold and gloomy, but not yet white and fluffy, it’s the perfect time to head some place where it’s always warm. After short deliberations, we got a pair of roundtrip tickets to Curaçao, not the least because it’s one of the few places in the Caribbean that is not completely overstuffed with tourists, but does have direct flights from YYZ. The intention was to spend a week scuba diving, riding scooters and in general having some fun in the sun. Something to contrast the more demanding trip to Newfoundland in the summer 😉

  4. Riding in the Clouds

    After three days of glorious sunny weather, the infamous Newfoundland rain and fog caught up with us. We woke up to a gloomy, wet morning, just as forecasted. Weather can be unpredictable near the coast, but for the time being it seems a large cloud descended over Gros Morne park and was here to stay for a while. Continue reading…
